Turning waste into a resource

Harit Seva is an initiative of Seva Dham Foundation to promote proper collection, reuse and recycling of waste. Through an organised collection network, we work to take useful scrap from homes, shops, offices, institutions and businesses to the right place.

We believe that what we throw away as useless can become a valuable resource for someone else. Through proper management we want to protect the environment while also creating local jobs and self-employment.

Our aims

  • Clean environment: Help reduce open dumping of waste and the loss of useful material.
  • Waste into resource: Promote collection of paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and other accepted recyclable materials.
  • Livelihoods: Give local waste collectors and partners an organised way to earn.

Donate Your Waste — कचरा दान करें

Old newspapers, cardboard, metal or other accepted recyclable items lying in your home, shop or office can be put to good use.

Through Harit Seva you can donate such material. As you wish and as arrangements allow, the money received from its value can be used to support Seva Dham Foundation's declared social work.

Your small contribution can be a big step towards cleanliness and social change.

Donations of material (in kind) are not eligible for an 80G tax deduction — only money donations are. You will receive an acknowledgement for your donated material.

Through the Harit Seva network you can request a pickup to sell accepted scrap from your home, shop or office.

  • Share details of your material and pickup.
  • A collector will contact you, subject to availability.
  • After checking and weighing the material, the price is set at the applicable rate.
  • Once agreed, you are paid in cash or digitally.

The process

How does Harit Seva work?

    Step 1 — Register a request

    The customer contacts us to donate or sell scrap.

  2. 2

    Step 2 — Collection is arranged

    A pickup is scheduled according to availability and location.

  3. 3

    Step 3 — Material is assessed

    The applicable value is set by the category, quality and weight of the material.

  4. 4

    Step 4 — Payment or donation

    For a sale, the customer is paid as agreed. For a donation, the material is recorded through the set donation process.

    Step 5 — Right use and recycling

    Collected material is sent to the relevant recyclers or authorised buyers.
